Simple Woman's Daybook (second meme today)

Click the image above in my sidebar and join Peggy, the hostess for the Daybook meme as she encourages us to embrace the SIMPLE things in life.

FOR TODAY...November 30, 2009, from Judy's Daybook:

Outside my window... warm for the season...looking like rain...hunters in the woods (including our own)

I am thinking... how beautiful my sweet grand-daughter's Baptism was yesterday

I am thankful for... my husband...and for all we have learned through the years together

I am wearing... cleaning and decorating clothes

I am remembering...Christmas wreaths that my mother used to make out of old computer cards, spray paint, styrofoam balls, and glitter

I am going... to be trying to a new Christmas snowflake ornament craft we found in a magazine

I am reading...my free issue of SALT magazine that arrived in the mail; written by a couple who are awaiting the birth of their thirteenth child

I am hoping... that our store does well through the season of online shopping...not where our focus is...but still a fact of life that helps us put food on the table!

On my mind... family

From the learning rooms... on vacation this week...but still learning lots of things!

Noticing that...the new candle we got called "Scented Leaves" smells REALLY nice!

Pondering these words... "RECEIVE THE LIGHT OF CHRIST"...my favorite part of a Baptism...spoken by the priest as he hands a candle to the parents/godparents as a symbol of Christ's LIGHT AND LIFE in our souls

From the kitchen... hmmm...turkey in the freezer and some venison steaks...no real plans this week...just cooking as we go along

Around the house... Christmas storage bins making their ways up out of the basement

One of my favorite things~ looking at old tyme photos

From my picture journal...

Praise God for Grand-daughters!

MUSIC MONDAY

Shawntele's blog, Saved by Grace, is a lovely place to spend some time and she invites you to share in her love for God's gift of MUSIC each Monday with this special meme! Click this link my sidebar and visit her today...and perhaps add some of your own musical favorites for us to enjoy!

I have a little something different to share today...as we enter this first week of the Holy Season of Advent...I'd like to share a version of O Come O Come Emmanuel that I had not heard before.

Just a couple guys and their acoustics...and they really add some SOUL to it as they go along.

Hope you like it!

Celebrate Friendship (first of three memes today!)

CELEBRATE FRIENDSHIP! Click this image in my sidebar to visit the special blog of Ruth's, that she has set up just for this meme each Saturday and add your celebration of friendship to ours! Thanks to Ruth for drawing us into this beautiful celebration of one of God's greatest gifts.
TRUE FRIENDS are TRUE BLESSINGS!

Here are Ruth's guidelines for this great new meme:

1. a picture of a treat for a friend (a cup of coffee, a flower bouquet, goodies you baked, etc)
2. a short description about your friend and your relationship with her/him. No need to be specific about your friend's identity.
3. and a short note addressed to her

This little array of gifts is for one of my BEST friends in the world:
MY DAUGHTER CHRISTINE. She LOVES incense and enjoys getting Shrimp on sale (and believe me...she is QUEEN of finding good BARGAINS) and sharing these special cocktails with her husband after her girls are tucked in at night.

Christine is delightful...she lights up a room...she's witty and clever...yet deep and profound...she's compassionate and generous...and celebrates the small pleasures in life with JOY and CONTENTMENT. Christine and I can have a whole conversation without finishing a sentence...and even when my brain goes short (as it seems to do more and more often) and I get names mixed up or pronounce words BACKWARDS, she STILL understands what I'm trying to say!!!!! Christine and I can talk for HOURS and laugh about things which others wouldn't even understand. She reminds me that I AM BLESSED and that no matter how hard the road gets sometimes...we always have things to be thankful for...and we have EACH OTHER to lean on.
I am thankful to be Christine's mother...but I am also thankful that she is MY FRIEND...I don't know what I'd do without her in my life.

Dear Christine,

I am so proud of you. You are an example of what it means to have HOPE in the Lord and I admire the way you always get back up when the going gets tough. Being able to share in the joys, sorrows, challenges, and successes of motherhood, marriage, faith, and daily life as women with you is one of the greatest JOYS in my own life. I know that I am free to be myself with you...and I also know that you accept me and love me...just the way I am...(even though you have had a close-up view of my faults more than most people). Thanks for making me smile.
Thanks for celebrating the little things in life with me. Thanks for teaching me to "embrace the cross and carry on" and THANKS FOR BEING MY FRIEND.

I love you with all of my heart,
Mum

Treasured Moments

I mentioned earlier this week, on my benmakesten blog, that I find the women of Australia to be wonderful examples of devoted wives, mothers, teachers and servants of the Lord...the hostess of this meme, Erin, is one of those Aussie Ladies...click this image in my sidebar and read her post which shares the TREASURED MOMENTS of her life this week...join us if you like!

The little things...the quiet times...the simpler way...the moments of family....away from the fast-paced world...outside the busy schedules...slowing down...taking it all in...and celebrating family life:

OUR TREASURED MOMENTS:

1) busy hands crafting and coloring holiday decorations

2) listening to just a bit of Christmas music and reading stories of the Season

3) lots of wagon rides with Daddy over the fields and through the forest

4) baking, baking, baking together

5) celebrating our Thanksgiving

6) RESTING and RELAXING
