1) It is beyond my comprehension that an Administration of government, who did NOT want to allow its citizens to hold a National Day of Prayer because it is "unconstitutional", would deem it appropriate to add a "National Gay and Lesbian Day" to our nation's official holiday calendar and proceed to publicly tell Americans that it is part of good citizenship to HONOR this day. ?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I'll stop there.
2) I have presented two cherry tomato bushes in the garden as "candy-for-the-picking" to the kids! This THRILLS them and I LOVE to watch their joyful smiles and they grab tiny handfuls, fill their cheeks like little squirrels, and giggle as the juice squirts out and drips down their chins....aaahhhh, the blessings of summer.
3) I had to smile when my eldest son called to tell me that he is selling his two-door sports car because he's decided that a four-door is more practical for his young family...what a good Daddy. I laughed and reminded him that his own Dad and I started out in a Black Pontiac Trans Am and worked our way up the "practical" ladder to our current Chevy 15 passenger van; and that we would try to keep it in good condition for his future, ha ha!
4) Today, I'm looking for some fun and easy Independence Day craft ideas! If you have a good link or idea for me, please do share! (Better yet, stop by our FORUMS and share your idea there! Our site visitors will appreciate it as well!)
5) So sorry to read that Australia now has a Prime Minister who does not believe in God. I always thought that Australia was high on my list of "other places I might like to live" but I see now that they are in no better shape than the USA. Too bad.
6) Seems I have a bit of a "hum-drum" theme here in Quick Takes as far as the political arena goes this week...sorry...but I must add that I truly feel that freedom and liberty are endangered in this great nation in which I live...and it has made me more keenly aware of what great blessings these things are...and thankful for those who struggled, fought, and died to preserve them thus far.
7) On that note, I wish all of you in America a HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY this Sunday! May God grant you joyful times with friends and family, rejoicing and celebrating the land of the free and home of the brave! I offer this prayer for our nation which our parish prays together before Mass each week:
God our Father, Giver of Life
We entrust the United States of America
to Your loving care
You are the rock on which this nation was founded
You alone, are the true source of our cherished rights
to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
Reclaim this land for Your glory
and dwell among Your people
Send Your Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of our nations leaders
Open their minds to the great worth of human life
and the responsibilities that accompany human freedom
Remind Your people that true happiness
is rooted in seeking and doing Your will
Through the intercession of Mary Immaculate
Patroness of Our Land
Grant us the courage to reject the culture of death
and lead us in to a new millenium of life
We ask this through Christ, Our Lord
AMEN

A beautiful prayer. I try to say nothing at all about our current administration except...one year down three to go.
Love the prayer! It blessed me! You can help call our nation to prayer by posting this prayer request to your blog's side panel. Like you, I'm hoping that our country will turn to God.

Thank you Judy for the reminder to pray for our nation. The Bible tells us to also...
1 Timothy 2:1-4
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this [is] good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Recently, a homeschooling friend of mine told a story about her high school son. They decided to send him to public school for the last two years...The whole school had to take an hour of silence for homosexuals...what a joke. Thankfully, the son refused and he was kicked out of class for his defiance. Blessed are they that are persecuted for the sake of Jesus Christ.
Hip-chick...that's what I'm thinkin' too. Glad you liked the prayer:)
Mom...I will check out the link you've shared...thank you! So happy that God blessed your visit here today!
And Laura...THAT is UNBELIEVABLE...it weighs heavy upon my heart that the precious children of the world are exposed to such poor influence. God bless your friend's son for standing up for Christ. Blessed are they, indeed!
