1) It is so funny how thirteen year old boys think at times! Visit benmakesten's post for today, 3/5/10 to see what I mean. (Sorry for the absence of a direct link to the post...it was in the holding pattern of scheduled posts when I wrote this so no direct link was available yet)2) MUD, MUD, MUD, MUD....that will be my LIFE for the coming weeks as this beautiful snow begins to melt away! THANK GOD for basement doors through which to direct traffic!
3) Tonight's Friday Lenten Meal will be Tuna Sandwiches on toast and Tomato Soup. I invite all of you to abstain from meat today as a small gesture of love and self-denial in order to unite with Jesus in the desert:) If your health is such that you can not abstain, perhaps you can make some other small gesture of penance today.
4) My sweet daughter Laura and I are really enjoying creating the customized coloring pages for the prizes of our current ongoing contest! It's not too late to join! TAKE A LOOK!
5) Today is my eldest brother's 63rd birthday! I am the youngest of seven children. There are 18 years between him and me. This makes me smile as I well-recall the huge surprise party held in honor of his 40th birthday; and age which I am now past!!!!!!!!!!!! I also smile to think that this is how it will be for my daughter Christine and my little guy: Benny since there are 22 years between the two of them!
6) Ok...so....I finally "WII'd" at my parents house recently! Everyone has been trying to get me to join in the games but I am usually MUCH better off as a fan in the stands!!! I had a great time though with my parents and one of my brothers....the funniest part was listening to my Dad and my brother argue over which way I should move my little bowling lady...."Go to the left Jude"..."NO! She needs to go right"..."She'll never make it from there!" "Yes she will, you'll see".
Hmmm.....how about we just let the PLAYER decide which way to move her OWN bowling lady?!?!?!!? ::SMILE::
7) Jacob is reading A Light in the Forest by Conrad Richter...I recommend this story highly for anyone from 7th grade on up. CAUTION: There IS a few disturbing scenes involving scalping and other war-related activity between the Indians and the White Man. As always, I suggest that parents read the book first and decide whether or not it is appropriate for your children.
It is a very moving and heartwrenching story about a white boy raised by Indians who is forced to return to his white family but doesn't want to go with them. Do you have any good book suggestions for grades K, 2, 3, 4, 7, or 9 for us?
