This week's QUICK TAKES:

1) We were sad to see that our local Movie Gallery is going out of business, but REALLY happy that they are selling all of their dvd's for $5.00 each!!!

2) Let's not "bribe" our youth and teens to come to Christ by watering things down and feeling compelled to "entertain" them every time they gather in His name. These young people THIRST for Absolute Truth and they are zealous and excited to share their Faith with others. They will come to Jesus because they WANT to be there...we do not need to "disguise" Him as a "party".

3) It never ceases to amaze me how many cashiers and clerks have NO CLUE when it comes to properly counting back a person's change!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY IS THIS? Have you noticed it? Instead of counting back the change into your hand, adding up to the amount with which you paid the bill, they simply stare at the cash register, dump the money into your palm, and announce the total that is showing on the screen...thereby leaving YOU to have to COUNT your money back yourself to make sure it is correct...UGH!!!!!!!!!!! I recently asked a cashier to "change a fifty dollar bill for me" and she did not understand when I asked for two twenties and a ten in exchange for my money. She inquired, "You mean....you want to "like" TRADE money with me?"
This little episode inspired me to come home and make sure that ALL of my children understand the concept of making change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4) This family is offering an online Science Fair! I thought this was a GREAT idea and we are now planning to create an annual (or semi-annual) Science Fair on our Homeschool Faith and Family Life website!

5) My daughter Christine sent me an email saying that she read that if you take your left-over lipstick stubs and mix them in a small bowl with an equal amount of petroleum jelly, then microwave for 1 minute and store in a small container, that this makes an excellent homemade lip gloss!!! Let me know if you happen to try this!

6) My daughter Laura has created some new FREE Lenten Coloring Pages for your enjoyment on our website! (link in #4 above) They should be available by the end of this day as we are working to upload the pdf file soon after I finish this post. Please tell all of your friends who have children that would enjoy this activity...OR...any grown up that you know who likes to color as well!

7) Today is the second Friday of Lent. The Stations of the Cross are a lovely devotion, typically shared on all Fridays in Lent (and other days as well). THIS SITE offers many beautiful versions of this wonderful reflection, including an AUDIO version online, a printable version, and lots to read about the history of this prayer.
