7 Quick Takes Friday

Click the image in the sidebar that matches this one above and say hi to the hostess of this meme, Jennifer! Feel free to join us in publishing 7 mini posts encapsulating your thoughts for the week!

My Quick Takes:

1) We are SOOOOO excited for Jacob and his team making it into the play-offs. Our family has really enjoyed this football season...the first we have ever participated in that particular sport. I have said it before and I'll repeat myself here and now...there is SOOOOOO much more to the game of football (skill and intelligence-wise) than I EVER before realized! Jake's Coach has the boys remove their helmets and "take a knee" on the field before each game and then the whole team prays the Lord's Prayer together! AWESOME! He even asks the boys if they have any special intentions or someone they'd like to offer the game up for....is that GREAT or what?!?!?

2) I was elated this week to receive news that the Texas director of Planned Parenthood resigned the position and had a personal conversion after witnessing a video of a procured abortion! PRAISE GOD!!! What a powerful testimony to the sacredness of life that person can now be! Imagine the fountain of MERCY pouring out upon him/her (excuse me for not knowing which)

3) We listened to some cassette tapes the other night...tapes that I sent to my husband in the desert when he was serving in the Gulf War...my eldest daughter is five on the tapes and my eldest son is not even one...Hearing their tiny voices...and hearing MY OWN (I was the age then that my eldest daughter is NOW!!!) was like listening to another lifetime ago! The kids got SUCH a kick out of hearing their big sister sound like a little chipmunk AND hearing their big, strong brother babble and coo and squeal! I am STILL so thankful to God that my husband made it home alive...(his unit had some VERY close calls there)...and I am ever-so-grateful for those who continue to sacrifice and serve our country overseas...AND for their families who ALSO sacrifice so much while their loved ones are away!

4) Can't wait to make applesauce and cinnamon ornaments this year! Equal parts: applesauce/cinnamon...mix...roll out into a dough...poke a hole in the top...use your favorite cookie cutter shapes....let dry on wax paper OR bake in a VERY VERY low oven for a little while (watch for cracking!)...hang with pretty ribbon...MMmmmmm...they make the whole house smell good!

5) Has this been the fastest Autumn EVER or what?!? WHERE is time going?!?!?!?

6) We are really looking forward to a slow, laid back, relaxing weekend. After having everyone so ill...it will be so nice just to do a whole lot of nothing...rest, read, play, make some soup, watch a few movies, take a walk...aaaaahhhhh....life is good.

7) There's a BRAND NEW MEME on Saturdays...check out my sidebar for Celebrate Friendship, by Ruth at Daily Divine blog! I hope MANY of you will join us tomorrow as we post our celebrations of a friend and rejoice in this wonderful gift from the Lord!

Judy, reading take #3 moved my heart. Words can't express what I feel for your family..I'm sorry that you had to go through those difficult times when your husband was in gulf war but I also rejoice with you as you experience the unique joy and awe as you look back to those times and see how God has carried the whole family through till now. All blessings be upon your family!

So....equal parts applesauce & cinnamon?

How much do you think you'd need for say...six ornaments??? And...where can you buy that much cinnamon? Sams Club or Costco?

Thank you Ruth...it was life-changing indeed...and I never tire of thanking God that my dear husband made it home!

Hmmm...do you have a Farmer's Market anywhere near Nancy? Amish or Mennonite? Many times they will sell spices in bulk for REALLY CHEAP!

I guess I usually just get a few of the cheapest jars I can find and use it solely for this craft. Six ornaments will not need much...I'm thinking perhaps somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 C each. There's SO MUCH you can do with these ornaments...from hanging on a tree to hanging around the house...even putting them on a gift instead of a bow to make it look pretty...it's one of my two most favorite crafts for Christmas time...the other being Glitter glue ornaments...just let me know if you want to know the instructions for that...it's another EASY, yet BEAUTIFUL ornament!

Thanks for visiting me ladies! You make my day bright!
