Provided that Jennifer, at Conversiondiary.com, is back from her little hiatus away from the computer...you can visit her by clicking this image in my sidebar. Her Friday meme invites you to make 7 mini posts...wrapping up your thoughts for the week. Visit Jennifer to find lots of other entries...or add one of your own! Here are my 7 Quick Takes for this week:
1) Today will be our second week of co-op with 6 moms and about 28 students/babies coming over to join us for lessons! I'm so thankful for this annual adventure and we get so excited to open our home and welcome our friends here each year for this event. It's fun for the kids to experience others as teachers and to learn some things that aren't a regular part of their usual curriculum...time to be with friends, fellowship, eat lunch together...have some play time...
We will really enjoy our Fridays for these five weeks!
2) Chilly weather makes me HUNGRY...there's just something about brisk air and blankets that makes me want to cuddle up with tasty snacks or hearty soups. I'm so glad that Jake, almost 13, enjoys cooking so much because he's always asking permission to whip up little treats and culinary delights!!!
3) If you'd like to meet a wonderful wife, mother, homeschool teacher who has a wealth of insight, wisdom, and good advice to share...the CLICK HERE and enjoy this week's special guest on our Daily Blessings Special Feature Weekly Interviews blog! Her name is Laura Santos and she lives in Washington State, USA. Leave her a comment and introduce yourself!
4) I find myself longing for "lingering" time...you know...time to just sit, relax, enjoy some good conversation...think, reflect, ponder a few things...laugh...chit chat...just sit back and "BE", rather than rushing around trying to keep up with the never-ending-list of things to do.
5) Good friends are SUCH a blessing in life. Have you thanked God for yours? ARE you being one to someone else? When God sends someone into your life that will share your joys, sorrows, ups and downs...this is a real gift! God has given me such wonderful friends...both in real life and online...people whom I can TRUST to aid me in my journey toward Christ...people who are not afraid to admonish me when needed...people who laugh with me, cry with me, and PRAY with me. Comrades for the spiritual walk of life!
6) We really need to pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life among our youth.
I think that if we focused our prayer on this, then the effects of those prayers would be far-reaching. Our children will never be exposed to the joyful life of a priest or a nun if we don't show them. God has a purpose and mission for each person. We must help our children to keep an open heart and mind in order to discern where it is God is calling them in life. Pray for them to be open to a call to religious life.
7) Homeschooling is such a blessing in that I have the opportunity to LEARN right along-side my children! I often wonder, "Who's teaching who, here?" I learn SO MUCH from my kids.
Many times, we will come upon a topic that didn't really grab my attention or thrill me back in my own school days (i.e. history or science) but in this new realm of homeschooling, these things are brought to new life and I will find my self eager to learn more and enjoying the subjects that I used to find boring and dry. Homeschooling allows me to share so much time with my kids...the ups, the downs, the laughs, the doubts, the accomplishments, the praises, and the small epiphanies which often come to us each day! I wouldn't change our experiences for the world; and I highly recommend homeschooling as a chosen form of education! Try it...you'll LIKE it!
