7 Quick Takes ~ 1 of 3 memes today

If you click that image in my sidebar, you will visit Jennifer, at ConversionDiary.com ~ the
home of this meme that invites you to share 7 mini blog posts rolled into one! Jennifer's blog
is a place that will make you laugh, keep you thinking, touch your heart, and draw you back for more visits! Stop by today!

Here are my Quick Takes:

1) The "Battle for the Heater" is on! Every year in our house it is Daddy against the REST of us...

Daddy: "Don't you turn that heater on yet"
Everyone: "But Daddy, we are COLD!"
Daddy: "Put a sweater on and toughen up", LOL

It is OCTOBER and my dearest just finished using the AIR CONDITIONER this past week...
YIKES!!!!!!!!!!

2) For some reason...I don't usually post much "politics" on my blogs...but it seems to fit very nicely into these Quick Takes...so: There is just something SERIOUSLY wrong with the United States of America honoring Communist China!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had first read about this on SAHMinIL's blog...and sure enough..it was TRUE! The Empire State Building was lit in RED lights to honor the 60th Anniversary of China!!!!!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?!?!?

3) I am dying to share a photo with you of my new sweet baby grand-daughter, Haley.
However, I've yet to have the opportunity to ask her tired Daddy's permission for putting her
photo on the internet...so........stay tuned.......however....I DO have permission to put my OTHER
grand-daughters here....AREN'T THEY JUST SO ADORABLE?

4) Please pray for my Dad today...he is undergoing yet another surgery...of course, each one gets more serious for it's just a risk for someone 82 years of age to go "under the knife" SO many times in one year. My Dad's great. My brother recently got him and my mum a WII....isn't that AWESOME? 82 years old and they are WII-ing every day! Even more funny...he purchased and even BIGGER TV to go with it...and the Geek Squad is coming to install it for them, LOL! My mother asked me "Why do they call it a "squad"? There's only one guy". Oh I hope I have that kind of energy when I am 82, don't you?

5) There's a wonderful new discussion group over on The Homeschool Lounge called "Catholic Homeschooling Moms". It's a "place within a place" where ladies are sharing the Faith, celebrating their customs and traditions together, asking questions, praying for others, and just blessing one another in our wonderful vocation of Catholic Homeschooling! COME JOIN US!

6) I wish that I could learn to love as children do.

7) Finally, a note about "work": Gabriella's blog had a wonderful discussion this past week on the topic of work. I just wanted to reiterate here that your job is not really about your JOB. What I mean by that is: EVERY career, position, duty, and job will most likely have within it some menial tasks, or frustrating aspects that cause you from time to time to feel the drudgery in it more than the joy. It helps to remember...that the TRUE purpose of your job is to SHARE CHRIST'S LOVE...No matter if you are a stay-at-home mother, a fireman, a clerk, an accountant, a surgeon, a butcher, a baker, or a candlestick maker (LOL...couldn't help myself there ::SMILE::)...The duties and tasks and performance part of the job are just the MEANS to give you a way to do YOUR REAL WORK. This is why EVERY job...if done well and done for God's glory...is GOOD, and HOLY, and WORTHWHILE... Try to see your work from that perspective today! Whose path will God cross to your own at the water cooler today? How can you serve them? What do your colleagues SEE in you as you go about your day? Joy? Humility? Openness to LIFE? Where are YOU finding the face of JESUS as you drive that delivery truck, file those papers, give that Power Point presentation, or change that 10th diaper? Our jobs contain a hidden mission...and that's what they are really all about.

Didn't know that about China?! Why aren't we lighting up something for our fallen and serving service men and women every day?

The part about your parents is great. My parents are in their 80's. They aren't doing the WII thing though. Your mom and the squad comment sounds like something my mom would say! LOL So funny. Thank you for this uplifting post. :)
